Under new regulations that came out in October 2008, outbuildings are considered to be a permitted development and as such may not require planning permission subject to certain restrictions and conditions. Details on the relevant planning rules can be found on the Planning Portal. We recommend customers consult with their local authority to determine if planning permission is required.
In our experience the majority of garden rooms in the rear of a property do not need planning permission. Where planning permission is required, we can use a CAD architect program to assist you with your planning application and provide you with 2D and 3D plans of your garden room drawn to your specific requirements.
Garden Room Wales are happy to support you to determine if planning permission is required, but ultimately compliance with planning requirements rests with the home owners.
